Our Little Drummers program includes course material and drumsticks.

The program covers call & response games, note naming and recognition and will work towards students creating their own rhythms while developing hand/eye coordination.

We will be building communication skills, social skills and confidence.  This program also helps build a solid foundation for us moving forward on the drum set.

Our individual drum lessons in Brandon are customized around every student’s goals and needs, and are discussed before lessons begin by provide you with a free “Meet & Greet“.

Each student truly receives customized drum lessons and we cater to how a student learns best by using audio, visual and kinaesthetic aids. Unlike group classes, with one-on-one drum lessons students have our utmost undivided attention as well as allowing us to deviate from the program as needed.

Our orchestral percussion program offers professional studies for any student wanting to join band, in band or at a University level.  We cover mallets (marimba, vibes, xylophone, and bells), timpani, orchestral/rudimental snare drum, and auxiliary percussion (tambourine, triangle, castanets, shakers, cabassa, guiros, etc.).  Student will have performance opportunities and are connected to community orchestras and universities.

Groove Academy offers a wide variety of Hand Drum Programs including djembe, congas and bongos.  For online Djembe lessons you do need a drum, but for in-studio djembe lessons you don’t need a hand drum, just stop by and have some fun. We have lots of hand drums on site for you to try. Groove Academy offers Djembe group classes and one-on-one.

Hand drumming is awesome, a great way to express yourself and it’s easy to get a sound “out” right-away. Hand drumming is proven to be a great stress reliever, and a great form of meditation as well. It’s healthy and it’s fun. Join us today!!

The Ten-Week Percussion program is a one-on-one program that covers all orchestral percussion instruments, techniques and theory. Therefore, any student wanting to join band should take this course to gaing the confidence needed in understand all areas of percussion..  The program will give an in-depth study of snare drum, mallets, timpani, hand percussion and more!! After completing the Ten-Week Percussion Program, One on One lessons are offered. (10 half hour lessons or can be condensed to 5 one hour lessons) .  Regardless if you have experience or have never played before, you will gain major benefits from joining this program.

Our Full-Time Drum Course is a 6 month program of intense study intended for the serious and or career minded drummer. As result of many Universities only focusing primarily on Orchestral percussion, our focus is on the many aspects of drumming, drum history, performance and what is needed to become a fulltime drummer.

Student are prepared and working towards being able to make a living as a fulltime drummer through building out our playing capabilities, understanding various styles, social media, building connections, exploring multiple revenue possibilities and using media to bring in gigs and revenue.

The course includes theoretical and practical studies along with live performances and article submissions to some of the top drumming/percussion magazines and websites.

Students will learn to demonstrate proficiency in all genres, rudiments, percussion basics, soloing, odd time signatures, tuning, recording, working with a drum machine, electric drums, programing, double bass, and more.

The course runs from September-February and March-August. Classes are Monday to Friday from 9:30am-3:00pm.

Upon completion, a certificate is given with a mark 75% or higher. Full course details and tuition info can be mailed or emailed out.

Groove Academy’s “5 Day Intensive Percussion Camp” is held on the 2nd week of July.  Our program covers all aspects of orchestral percussion and performance. Student will learn Theory, Rudiments, Snare drum, Timpani, Mallets, Drum set, and Auxiliary percussion.  Students will learn the basics of Jazz drumming along with grip techniques and listening examples.  Students gain the fundamentals necessary to excel in band and jazz band, therefore making band and jazz band more enjoyable.

A new orchestral percussion instrument is focused on everyday with a review of the day before and students will experience tons of with group playing and demonstration.

The course ends of with a test that awards each student a certificate of completion and a recording of the week’s work and compositions.

This course provides the key essentials in providing students with the tools necessary to become an asset in their band program/s in September and to play with more confidence in interpreting the music as apposed to how to read, or how to hold your sticks.
